« … He brims with such energy and inspires exemplary playing from the orchestra at his command…» - GIANANDREA NOSEDA (Principal Conductor, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra) Premier Prix du 50ème Concours international des jeunes chefs d’orchestre de Besançon en 2007, Darrell Ang a remporté le Grand Prix, le ‘’Prix du public’’, ainsi que le ‘top vote’ de la part des musiciens de l’orchestre du festival, l’Orchestre National d’Ile-de-France. Il a également remporté le prix du 9ème Concours International des Chefs d’Orchestre d’Antonio Pedrotti en 2006. Né à Singapore, Darrell Ang étudie avec le compositeur Leong Yoon-Pin, et a aussi étudié le violon, le piano et le basson. Il a reçu la ‘’Summa Cum Laude‘’ du conservatoire de Saint Pétersbourg et de l’Université de Yale. Il s’est perfectionné avec Joma Panula et a suivi les cours l’interprétation de Sir Colin Davis. Il a récemment dirigé le ‘’Musical Olympus’’ au festival de St Pétersbourg et le Residentie Orkest à la Hague au ‘’Neeme Järvi Summer Academy’’. En 2001, il a co-fondé le ‘’St. Pétersbourg Chamber Philharmonic’’ et a fréquemment été le chef invité à l’Opéra de Saint Pétersbourg, au Rimsky-Korsakov state Opéra & Ballet Theatre, et a travaillé en étroite collaboration avec les solistes du ‘’Mariinsky Theatre Academy of young Singers’’. Il a beaucoup dirigé en Russie, avec le ‘’St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra’’, le ‘’St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra’’, et le ‘’Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra’’ ; en Europe avec le ‘’Hradec Kralove Philharmonic Orchestra’’, le ‘’Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pflaz’’, le ‘’ Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra ‘’, l’Orquestra de Cadaques , et l’ Orchestra Haydn di Trento e Bozano ; en Asie avec le ’’New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra ‘’, le ‘’Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra’’, et le ‘ Singapore Symphony Orchestra ‘’ ; ainsi qu’en Amérique du nord ‘’ l’Orchestra of the National Arts Centre of Canada ‘’ et le ‘’UNAM Orchestra of Mexico ‘’.

« … He brims with such energy and inspires exemplary playing from the orchestra at his command… » - GIANANDREA NOSEDA (Principal Conductor, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra) Winner of the 50th Besançon International Young Conductor’s Competition in 2007, he was awarded the Grand Prix, the “Prix du Public” as audience favourite, as well as the top vote of the musicians of the festival orchestra, the Orchestre National d’Ile-de-France. He was also the winner of the “9th Antonio Pedrotti International Competition for Conductors” in 2006. Born in Singapore, Darrell Ang studied there with the composer Leong Yoon-Pin and played the violin, piano and bassoon. He later graduated summa cum laude from the St.Pétersburg Conservatory and Yale University, and has also studied at masterclasses with Jorma Panula and Sir Colin Davis. He recently conducted at the “Musical Olympus” Festival St Pétersburg, and at Neeme Järvi’s Summer Academy with the Residentie Orkest in The Hague. In 2001, he co-founded the St. Pétersburg Chamber Philharmonic and was a frequent guest-conductor at the St. Petersburg Opera, as well as the Rimsky-Korsakov State Opera & Ballet Theatre, working closely with soloists from the Mariinsky Theatre Academy of Young Singers. He has conducted widely in Russia, including performances with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, and the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra; in Europe with the Hradec Kralove Philharmonic Orchestra, the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pflaz, the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orquestra de Cadaques, and the “Orchestra Haydn di Trento e Bozano”; in Asia with the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra; as well as in North America with the Orchestra of the National Arts Centre of Canada and the UNAM Orchestra of Mexico.
