Après avoir obtenu, à l’unanimité, un Premier Prix de direction d’orchestre au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, Vincent Barthe remporte en 1993 le Prix Spécial Art Vocal qui récompense en particulier la meilleure épreuve lyrique et la Mention Spéciale du Jury du Concours international de direction d’orchestre de Besançon. En 1994, il remporte également le Premier Prix du Concours International de direction d’orchestre Arturo Toscanini en Italie. En 1987, Vincent Barthe a fait partie des cinq jeunes chefs français sélectionnés sur concours pour travailler avec Leonard Bernstein. Il s’est également perfectionné auprès de Pierre Dervaux. Agrégé de musique, il enseigne à l’Université de Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV). Il est, de 1993 à 2001, Directeur artistique de l’Orchestre et du Chœur des Universités de Paris. En 1996, il est nommé Chef associé de l’Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, responsabilité qu’il exerce jusqu’en août 2004 et qui concerne l’ensemble des missions de l’Orchestre : concerts d’abonnement à Nantes et Angers, productions lyriques, mais également concerts décentralisés en région et mission pédagogique (concerts commentés, concerts lycéens, étudiants). Vincent Barthe est, de 2003 à 2006, Directeur musical de l’Orchestre Bayonne Côte Basque. A l’invitation du journaliste Yvan Levaï, il s’est produit avec cette formation au Théâtre Marigny à Paris en juin 2004. En avril 2006, à l’occasion du trentième anniversaire de l’Orchestre Bayonne Côte Basque, il a dirigé la Neuvième Symphonie de Beethoven dans le cadre des prestigieuses Fêtes musicales de Biarritz, auxquelles cette phalange n’avait pas prêté son concours depuis plusieurs années. C’est également sous son impulsion que l’Orchestre est de nouveau régulièrement invité à participer à Musique en Côte Basque, festival de réputation internationale. Partageant ses activités entre les répertoires symphonique et lyrique, Vincent Barthe est régulièrement invité à diriger de grandes formations telles que l’Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, l’Orchestre National de Lille, l’Orchestre National d’Île-de-France, l’Orchestre National de Bordeaux Aquitaine, l’Orchestre National de Lorraine, l’Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, l’Orchestre des Concerts Lamoureux, l’Orchestre Colonne, l’Orchestre de Picardie, l’Orchestre de Bretagne, l’Orchestre Poitou-Charentes, l’Orchestre d’Auvergne, l’Orchestre philharmonique de Nice, L’Orchestre de Cannes Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur, l’Orchestre Lyrique de Région Avignon-Provence, l’Orchestre symphonique d’Emilie-Romagne Arturo Toscanini en Italie, l’Orchestre du Brabant aux Pays-Bas, … Parmi toutes ces formations, Vincent Barthe entretient des relations privilégiées avec l’Orchestre Lyrique de Région Avignon-Provence. Il a notamment participé, en 2002, au concert anniversaire des vingt ans de l’Orchestre. Invité régulier de l’Opéra d’Avignon et des Pays de Vaucluse, il y a dirigé Don Pasquale de Donizetti, Candide de Bernstein, Norma de Bellini, Madama Butterfly et Tosca de Puccini. Il y reviendra en février 2007 pour Les Pêcheurs de perles de Bizet, qu’il dirigera également en mai 2007 à l’Opéra de Tours, et en novembre 2007 pour La Traviata de Verdi. Il a également dirigé La Flûte enchantée de Mozart au Grand Théâtre de Reims et reprend l’ouvrage à l’Opéra de Vichy en septembre 2006, avec l’Orchestre Lyrique de Région Avignon-Provence. Enfin, La Traviata, donnée sous sa direction à l’Opéra de Massy en avril et mai 2006, sera reprise, également sous sa direction, à Vichy, avec l’Orchestre Lyrique de Région Avignon-Provence, et à Reims en 2007. Vincent Barthe a enregistré, avec Eric Aubier en soliste et l’Orchestre de Bretagne, les concertos pour trompette de L. Mozart et J. Haydn, chez Sony collection en 2000, ainsi que ceux de G. P. Telemann et J. N. Hummel chez Mandala, distribué par Harmonia Mundi, en 2003.

Biography :

Being unanimously awarded the first prize for conducting at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, Vincent Barthe has won in 1993 the Special Prize for Vocal Art rewarding particularly the best opera test as well as the Special Mention by the Jury in the 1994 International Conductors’ Competition in Besançon. In 1994, he also took the First Prize in the Arturo Toscanini International Conducting Competition in Italy. In 1987, Vincent Barthe was among the five French young conductors specially elected by examination in order to work with Leonard Bernstein. He has also studied under Pierre Dervaux. Holder of the agregation, highest competitive examination for teachers, he is teaching at the Paris-Sorbonne University. From 1993 to 2001, he has served as Artistic Director of the Orchestra and Choir of the Universities of Paris. In 1996, he has been appointed Associated Chief of the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, a post he fulfilled until August 2004 looking after all the missions of the orchestra : season tickets concerts in Nantes and Angers, opera productions, concerts in region and educational mission (commented concerts, concerts for pupils or students). From 2003 to 2006, Vincent Barthe has served as Music Director of the Orchestre Bayonne Côte Basque. At reporter Yvan Levaï‘s invitation, he has performed with this formation at Théâtre Marigny in Paris in June 2004. In April 2006, for the thirtieth anniversary of the Orchestre Bayonne Côte Basque, he has conducted the Ninth Symphony by Beethoven on the occasion of the prestigious Fêtes musicales in Biarritz, in which this formation has not taken part since many years. Through the impetus given by Vincent Barthe, the Orchestre Bayonne Côte Basque is again regularly invited to perform within the context of Musique en Côte Basque, an internationally renowned festival. Vincent Barthe leads both lyric and symphonic repertoires. Vincent Barthe recorded Mozart’s and Haydn’s trumpet concertos with Eric Aubier as a soloist and the Orchestre de Bretagne for Sony Collection in 2000 and also Telemann’s and Hummel’s ones for Mandala with a distribution by Harmonia Mundi in 2003.
